Start with the entry points
Summer tracks in a lot. Pool water and chlorine on bare feet, fine clay-soil dust from the yard, grass clippings, and whatever the dog finds out back all come through the door. Knock out the entry zones first. Shake out and wash the door mats, vacuum the entry carpet thoroughly, and if you don't already run a shoes-off rule, summer is a good time to start one.
